Mount Saramati (3,840m) is the highest peak in Nagaland, on the border with Myanmar in Kiphire district: the trek runs from Thanamir village through subtropical forest to rhododendron and snow country near the top. It is a genuine multi-day expedition, organised with local guides.
Best time: November to March.

Permits & season for Nagaland
ILP required for Indian nationals outside the Hornbill window (waived Dec 1–10 with photo ID), online at ilp.nagaland.gov.in; foreign nationals pay a fee.
October to March is the clean window; December adds the Hornbill Festival, and the monsoon makes eastern roads slow.
