The Dzongri trek is Sikkim’s classic short high trek: five days from Yuksom through rhododendron cloud forest to the alpine meadow at Dzongri (about 13,000ft), with the pre-dawn climb to Dzongri Top for sunrise over Kanchenjunga and Pandim.
Permits apply (protected area, West zone) and registered agencies run the logistics.

Is Dzongri good for first-timers?
It is a solid fit for fit beginners: teahouse-to-camp support, but the altitude is real, take the acclimatisation days.

No ILP, but protected areas (Nathula, North Sikkim beyond Mangan) need permits arranged through registered agencies ahead of travel.
March to May for rhododendrons and clear skies, October to December for the sharpest views; the monsoon closes high routes.
