Japfü Peak in April

Kohima’s mountain and the Dzükou trailhead.

Quick answer. Spring. Warm days, building humidity; village life moves outdoors. For Japfü Peak specifically, April is inside the short good window, so lock stays early.

Why April here

The 3,000m peak behind Kohima: rhododendron slopes, the Dzükou route over its shoulder.

Japfü is the big peak behind Kohima at about 3,000m: the day-climb through mossy rhododendron forest to the ridge, with views down to the capital and across to Dzükou’s valleys. The famous Dzükou trek crosses its shoulder from the Viswema side.
