What it actually is
Not a corporate jamboree: a family-run festival that books indie acts from across India and the Northeast, staged on bamboo platforms between paddy fields and pines. Days are for village walks and jam sessions; nights are the stages, mist rolling in, coats on. It’s the reason a lot of India first hears the word “Ziro”.
The travel plan
- In: Guwahati → Naharlagun by train (or fly to Daporijo-side alternatives if schedules align, Naharlagun is standard), then shared taxi to Ziro, 3–4 hours.

Where to stay, camp or homestay?

Whichever you pick: book when the lineup drops, not when you land. The valley has a fixed number of beds and the festival multiplies demand several-fold.

Tips from people who’ve done it
Nights are cold at 1,500m+, pack a real jacket even in September. Rain protection for you AND your phone. Cash for food stalls. Walk to the grounds at least one morning, the valley without the crowd is half the reason Ziro exists.
