- Nongriat’s steps, wet stone staircases for hours; not beginner terrain in the rain.
- Dawki’s clarity, the Umngot goes brown; boating survives, the mirror doesn’t.
- Long drives, landslide hours on the Guwahati–Shillong and Sohra roads; buffers are mandatory (the maps problem).
- Camping, Shnongpdeng riverside tents are a dry-season pleasure.

Photographers, rain-lovers, repeat Northeast visitors who’ve done the dry version, and anyone who finds the idea of the wettest place on earth funny enough to test. Not recommended: first-time Northeast travellers on tight schedules, families with small kids, trekkers.
Practical monsoon rules
