Mawsynram holds the rainfall records: the wettest inhabited place on earth, where workers still carry the knup, the full-body rain shield of woven bamboo. The Mawjymbuin cave nearby holds a natural Shiva-lingam stalagmite, and the surrounding megalith country is quiet and green.
Best time: June to September for the full rain experience (bring protection); October to April for travel ease.
