The Phom Tribe

Longleng district · Festival: Möngüng (April-May window (Mungmung Sep 1 in the 2026 calendar))

At the Hornbill Festival: The Phom morung is small and proud: community songs in tight harmony and stories of Longleng’s bamboo country.

Traditional dress and craft

Phom women wear blue-black cloth with wide woven borders; men’s caps carry boar tusks and hornbill feathers.

What to know about the Phom

The Phom of Longleng celebrate Möngüng after sowing, and their Mungmung harvest festival is listed on the official 2026 calendar for September 1.
