River Islands
Majuli, the world’s largest river island, and Nongkhnum’s grass flats between the Kynshi’s branches.
Two islands carry the flag: Majuli on the Brahmaputra, the satra-and-mask heart of Assam reached by ferry from Jorhat, and Nongkhnum in Meghalaya’s west, a grass-and-sand island between branches of the Kynshi with falls at its edges.
Both are slow-travel destinations: nights matter more than checklists.
