Watch rhinos in

Kaziranga National Park in January

The park that saved the one-horned rhino.

Quick answer. Winter. Cool, dry and clear across the Brahmaputra valley, this is peak wildlife season. For Kaziranga National Park specifically, January is a comfortable month with the usual hill-state caveats.

Why January here

858 sq km of grassland and swamp on the Brahmaputra floodplain, holding over 70% of the world’s one-horned rhinos.

Kaziranga is Assam Tourism’s flagship: 858 sq km of tall grass, marsh and forest where the one-horned rhinoceros survives in numbers found nowhere else on earth, over 70% of the world population. Wild water buffalo, swamp deer, elephants and a dense tiger population share the floodplain.

Wildlife this month: Kaziranga and Manas are open and at their best: grass is short and sightings are easiest.
