Bathe (if you must) at

Parashuram Kund in October

The gorge where the sage found release.

Quick answer. Post-monsoon. Clear, crisp, one of the two best windows for the whole state. For Parashuram Kund specifically, October is a comfortable month with the usual hill-state caveats.

Why October here

A pilgrimage site on the Lohit where, by legend, Parashuram’s axe fell; the January fair fills the gorge.

Parashuram Kund is the Lohit gorge pilgrimage site: legend says the axe that stuck to the sage Parashuram’s hands fell away when he bathed here. On Makar Sankranti in mid-January the fair brings tens of thousands to bathe in the river.
