People & festivals
Zeliang, Rongmei, Kuki call Peren home, and the district's calendar centres on Hega (February). Every tribe also brings its culture to the <a href="/hornbill-festival/">Hornbill Festival</a> each December, the easiest way to meet all of Nagaland’s communities in one trip.
Why travellers come
Peren is western Nagaland's green lung, Ntangki's rainforest runs to the Bhutan-side hill systems, and Benreu village below Mount Pauna is the state's best community-trek base. The Zeliang's Hega festival fills February.
