Sumi, Kuki, Kachari communities call Niuland home, and the district's calendar centres on community and church festivals; Tuluni celebrated by Sumi villages. Every tribe also brings its culture to the <a href="/hornbill-festival/">Hornbill Festival</a> each December, the easiest way to meet all of Nagaland’s communities in one trip.
Why travellers come
Carved from Dimapur in 2021, Niuland is the quiet farm-belt district on the Zunheboto road, most visitors meet it driving toward Sümi country. The Sumi villages here celebrate Tuluni in July.
