By flight
Fly Gwalior → Delhi → Dimapur. The Delhi–Dimapur leg has daily non-stops; book the whole thing as one ticket.
By train
Rail runs via Delhi or Howrah, 36h+. Flying wins.

Arrival timing
Pickup batches leave Dimapur at 6:00 AM or 10:30 AM (airport and railway station both). Land by the evening before and we add a night near the station, or land by ~10:00 AM on Day 1 and go straight up the hill. Later than that and you miss the first festival afternoon.
