The Naga peoples
The Naga peoples, Nagaland

Nagaland’s sixteen-plus recognised Naga tribes, Angami, Ao, Chakhesang, Chang, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sangtam, Sümi, Tikhir, Yimkhiung, Zeliang, Kachari and Kuki communities, each keep distinct languages, dress and festival calendars, and each December they gather at Kisama for the Hornbill Festival.

Our 17 dedicated tribe pages cover each community’s dress, festivals and villages; this page is the family overview.
