Hajo, about 30km from Guwahati, is a pilgrimage town shared by faiths: the Hayagriva Madhava temple on Monikut hill (some traditions link it to Buddhist heritage), the Powa Mecca dargah, and older shrine sites across the hills.
The potter village of Hajo and the silk town of Sualkuchi nearby make an easy half-day loop from the city.
