Ziro in March
The Apatani rice-terrace valley that hosts India’s best-loved music festival.
Quick answer. Spring begins. The central circuit (Tezpur-Bhalukpong-Bomdila-Dirang-Tawang, about 350km) improves as days warm. For Ziro specifically, March is a comfortable month with the usual hill-state caveats.

Ziro is the Apatani homeland in Lower Subansiri: flat-rimmed rice terraces worked with remarkable engineering, villages of bamboo-and-wood houses, and a tribal culture (fish-in-paddy farming, facial tattoos among elder women) that UNESCO has placed on India’s tentative World Heritage list.
What to do
Terrace walks
Paddy-and-fish fields framed by pines.
Hong village
One of the largest Apatani villages.
