Pause at

Bomdila in March

The monastery ridge town on the climb.

Quick answer. Spring begins. The central circuit (Tezpur-Bhalukpong-Bomdila-Dirang-Tawang, about 350km) improves as days warm. For Bomdila specifically, March is a comfortable month with the usual hill-state caveats.

Why March here

Gompas, apple country and the first real mountain town on the Tawang road.

Bomdila sits at about 8,000ft on the Tawang road: the upper and lower gompas, apple-and-kiwi orchards on the slopes, and viewpoint ridges looking toward the Gorichen range. It is the classic first overnight after Tezpur and Bhalukpong.
