People & festivals
Ao call Mokokchung home, and the district's calendar centres on Moatsü (first week of May). Every tribe also brings its culture to the <a href="/hornbill-festival/">Hornbill Festival</a> each December, the easiest way to meet all of Nagaland’s communities in one trip.
Why travellers come
Mokokchung is the intellectual and cultural capital of the Ao, Nagaland's most polished hill town outside Kohima. Moatsü in May is the district at full song; the villages (Ungma, Longkhum, Chuchuyimlang) are the reason to slow down here.
Getting there
