The Mizo ("hill people") are the collective communities of Mizoram, Lusei being the dominant group alongside Hmar, Pawi (Lai), Mara and others. Their social ethic, Tlawmngaihna, unselfish public service, shapes everything from road accidents to village feasts.
Christianity shapes modern Mizo life profoundly, and the great pre-Christian festivals, Chapchar Kut, Mim Kut and Pawl Kut, survive as statewide celebrations of dance and dress.
