Kaziranga is Assam Tourism’s flagship: 858 sq km of tall grass, marsh and forest where the one-horned rhinoceros survives in numbers found nowhere else on earth, over 70% of the world population. Wild water buffalo, swamp deer, elephants and a dense tiger population share the floodplain.
Safaris run by jeep and on elephant back across the ranges: Central (Kohora), Western (Bagori), Eastern (Agratoli), Burha Pahar (Ghorakati) and the Northern range. The park closes through the monsoon, roughly May to October, and reopens on dates the park sets each year.
